How does my boat get approved?

If your boat is less than 10 years old, and under than 45ft in length, it is likely that your boat can be approved with a quick Boatsetter review and no additional paperwork!
However, if your boat falls into any of the following categories, Geico Marine and BoatUS may require additional documentation before your vessel is approved:
  • Boats exceeding $250,000 in value
  • Boats exceeding 45 ft.
  • Boats with a top speed greater than 50 mph or multiple outboard engines
  • Boats with carbon fiber, wood, or ferrocement as hull material
  • Boats with a carbon fiber/kevlar mast

Following the initial insurance review, Boatsetter Support will reach out to notify you of the next steps. Below is a list of information that is often requested in order to get final approval:

  • Copy of current insurance policy declaration page
  • Additional photos of your vessel (with view of interior, exterior, hull and engine)
  • Confirmation of Address
  • In-Water Survey

Once requested information is submitted for review, please allow a few more days for activation. You will receive a welcome email once your vessel is live on Boatsetter.com
